I have been practicing music therapy, performance, and/or teaching professionally since 2008. My private lessons studio, JJO Music, has been in business since October 2010. We have had several recitals at My First Piano since I discovered them in 2011. I am a young, fun, and energetic teacher who can help people of all ages develop the skills they need and get excited about playing and singing music they love. Currently, I am providing virtual lessons over Zoom, and I can see students in my studio in person at Strum University in North Phoenix. I do not drive to students' homes currently because of safety during the pandemic. It is my hope that this website will help students find me, and help me get more integrated in the music education community. I look forward to making music with you!

Meyer, Joanna
I've been teaching private piano lessons for over 24 years now, and I just love my students! I earned my Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance in 2005, and I teach ages 5 to adult, beginners to advanced. During lessons, we work together on note-reading, rhythm, dynamics, expression, and all the other fun little details that make music so enjoyable. Music theory—how music is written and structured—is also an important part of each lesson. Every student is different, and I tailor books and teaching methods according to the student's needs. Lessons are given weekly, and are $30 per half hour, with 45 minute and 60 minute lessons available for advanced students. I also offer sibling discounts—please contact for details! Students are responsible for the cost of books. Please feel free to email, text, or call for more information/availability. Asher, Ruthie
I have over 27 years experience in music education, concentrating on keyboard skills, mastery of scales, duet playing, fundamentals of music theory and aural testing. My students range from 5 years to adults. There are no two students alike, so recognizing that fact and not making the process into a race, I hope to develop an appreciation and a lifelong love of music. I hold annual recitals in my home for students and parents, which is always a delightful event.I am classically trained (to the standards set by the Royal Schools of Music, London, UK) and encourage students to explore classical, jazz and popular genres. Exposing students to a world of music is my passion and joy.
