I have been teaching piano since 1997 —and love it! I studied Music Education at MCC and piano pedagogy with Dr. Joan Woods. I greatly value the importance of teaching proper technique, theory, sight reading and ear training. I primarily use the Faber and Pace methods for beginners. For intermediate students, I introduce them to the classics in each of the 4 music periods. I also teach beginning composition skills too. Beginners and Intermediate level students are my forte!

I have been teaching piano for fifteen years, and live in the southeast Mesa area. I have been playing piano since the age of 8 for my personal enjoyment, and have accompanied soloists and choirs for many years. I began teaching piano after high school, took a break after I was married and had small children, then resumed teaching in 2010. I have been a member of Desert Valley Music Teachers Association (DVMTA) since 2007 which has given me opportunities for learning through monthly workshops and collaborating with other wonderful teachers, and gives my students the opportunity to participate in community events.

I have been teaching piano in Mesa for many years, and have played piano since I was three. I graduated from Arizona State University with a music degree, and love using what I learned to shape my students into well-rounded musicians.

I have had the privilege of teaching for 17 years. My goal is to teach my students to learn to love music and the piano through a positive environment, fun pieces, consistency, and a foundation of knowledge they can use in many ways. While incorporating a base of some classical repertoire, students will also learn to play hymns, popular music and improvise from a lead sheet. They will be given the opportunity to choose the songs they learn. Along the way, I encourage proper technique as they learn scales, chords, and arpeggios. Students will also have regular theory assignments that will help with other music endeavors that may interest them in the future. Through hard work and dedication, they will develop a lifelong skill and the joy that comes from the love and appreciation of music.

I first learned the piano when I was eight years old and have continued playing since then. I teach advanced piano as well as beginning piano. I teach children, teens and adults. I have many years of experience and my greatest joy comes from teaching others how to play. I love teaching and I have a way with kids and know how to get a beginner to advance rapidly. I teach technic, scales, chords and arpeggios which helps a student to advance. I love the piano and am a very positive teacher. You won’t go wrong by choosing me as your teacher!
